Glen Jenkins
Glen Jenkins (as of June 2008- Lyrical/Contemporary, Resident Company Choreographer, Voice)
Glen Jenkins has been involved in dance, voice, and piano the majority of his life. He was a 1998 recipient of the Alabama State Piano Sonatina Scholarship allowing him to perform with the Alabama State Symphony at age 18. Turning his focus to dance, Glen is a former "Mr Dance America 2001", former principal dancer with "Souletry Performance Ensemble" out of Panama City, principal dancer with "Alabama Contemporary Dance Company", dancer for the Nationally Televised "America’s Junior Miss Scholarship Program", and Finalist to "Mr. Senior West Coast Dance Explosion" held in Las Vegas. He has performed with artists such as "Third Phaze", Billy Gilman and worked along side of choreographers Bradley Taylor, DJ Guthrie, Nick Watkins, and Dena Rizzo. His performance credits include extensive roles in many musicals including "CATS", "Oklahoma", "Fantastics", "Best Little Whore House in Texas", & "Fiddler on the Roof" just to name a few. Glen has been a guest Teacher/Choreographer for studios & organizations across the United States. His choreography has won him numerous awards and has been featured on ESPN & Oxygen cable networks. He is currently performing with the "Eastern Shore Choral Society" and is on staff as a Judge and Master Teacher with "Masquerade National Dance Competition" and "Fire & Ice National Talent Competition". Glen’s former dancers can be seen in many collegiate dance lines, in national commercials for Target, Old Navy, JC Penny, Gap, performing in Las Vegas/Disney World, and along side Chris Judd on the WE TV series "Dirty Dancing".

Wendy Horton-Hardwick
Wendy Horton-Hardwick began her early dance training at Herndon’s Dance Center in Mobile, AL. At the age of 14 she began performing as a soloist with the Parapluie dance company in Mobile, AL. She has received summer scholarships to Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and to Debbie Reynolds, Studio F, in L.A. On several occasions she has attended summer programs in New York City, at Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Steps on Broadway, and Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance. During high school she was chosen to attend the Broadway Musical Theatre Project and study with professionals, including, Gregory Hines, Ann Reinking, Vanessa Williams, and Ben Vereen. After graduation from high school she was awarded a full tuition dance scholarship to attend college at New World School of the Arts in Miami. While there she studied with world famous master teachers and choreographers, among them, Daniel Lewis, Peter London, and Tina Santos. She has also performed as a principle dancer with Alabama Contemporary Dance (formerly Parapluie), where she worked with world famous choreographers and master teachers, Gary Abbott, Chuck Davis, and David Anderson. She also choreographed and served as rehearsal director for the company. While dancing with the company she had the opportunity to perform with the Chuck Davis African American Dance Ensemble. She was also invited to perform in England. Her performance credits include performing as a guest artist at Broadway Dance Center’s annual showcase. In 2002 she traveled to New York City to perform at the High School of the Performing Arts and in Central Park for the commemoration of the September 11th tragedies. She has also performed for Disney in the Hunchback of Notre Dame Festival of Fun Parade. Currently she is a local dance teacher and choreographer, as well as, a preschool teacher at Hutchens Elementary School. |
Kerrie Benson
Kerrie
Benson joins us with a wide range of performing, choreography, and
training accomplishments. She was the Dance Team choreographer and
coordinator for the Birmingham Steeldogs Arena Football "Showsteelers"
Dancers, where she helped lead them to the AFL Dance Team of the Year for
2002-2005. Kerrie also served as the Director/Choreographer for the
University of Alabama at Birmingham "Blazerettes" Dance Team. Additional
credits include Miss UAB pageant coordinator, Miss Jacksonville State
University 1995, and staff instructor for Universal Dance Association.
Kerrie has performed in "Anything Goes", "Mame", "Chicago" and "A Chorus
Line" regionally. She also appears in "Yoga-Southern Style" DVD/Video.
Kerrie placed 1st runner-up in Mrs. Alabama 2006. We are so proud of
Ms. Kerrie! We are happy to have her on our roster! |
Kristin Hults
Kristin
Thornburg Hults was the owner and director of Starmaker's Dance Studio
for seven years, where she taught all ages and levels of ballet, tap,
jazz, lyrical, tumbling, and hip hop. Kristin also directed the SDS
Allstar Competition Team, and led the team to numerous Regional and
National titles. Her choreography received many choreography,
performance, judges’ choice, critics’ choice, and showmanship awards at
the regional and national levels. Prior to the opening of Starmakers,
Kristin was a dance instructor at studios in Saraland and Mobile Alabama, as well as a counselor for the 1999
Joel Ruminner’s Dance Camp. She is a former Mobile Seagull’s Arena
Football Cheerleader, Mary G. Montgomery Dance Team Captain, Debbie’s School of Dance Competition Team Member,
Kimberleighs School of Dance Company Member, and Melinda Leigh
Performing Arts Center Company Member.
Kristin’s guest artist credits include the Atlanta Jazz and Tap
Festival, The Big Red Boat Cruise Lines, and Walt Disney World. Ms.
Michelle is so thrilled to have Ms. Kristin on our staff adding her
incredible talents to our faculty! |
Hartley Long
Hartley
Long joins Broadway South as a versatile teacher and dancer. Her credits
include instruction at one of Mississippi's top dance studios along with
many years of performing experience. Hartley holds a National Title as a
Soloist (Applause Nationals 2005) where she competed against 150
dancers. Her solo, choreographed by Ms. Hartley, also won a National
Award for Best Choreography. Ms. Hartley has danced the lead in
"Thumbelina", "A Christmas Carol", and has appeared as a chorus dancer
for "The Goonies", "Peter Pan", "Anchors Away", and more. We are
fortunate to have Ms. Hartley as a member of our staff. |
Amanda Shiver
We are thrilled to have Amanda Shiver on our talented faculty. Amanda's credits
include Miss Junior DMI 1999, performances with Mobile Ballet, DMI Miss College
First Runner Up 2007, KAR Kid 2002 & 2003, Kickin' Kane Dancer, Port City Monarchs
Dancer 2006 & 2007,former member of the elite company at Robinson's, and former
member of Carol Lloyd's Dance team. She is also a scholarship winner at West Coast
Dance Explosion and placed 3rd in Co. Dance Nationals 2006. This year Amanda is
serving as Assistant Coach and dance team Choreographer for the Port City Monarchs.
Ms. Amanda is also an experienced teacher in all areas of dance. Her special touch
with our students is one of a kind!

Lacie Maddox
Lacie
Maddox has been dancing for 16 years. Her diverse training in ballet,
pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, and hip hop add a nice flair to her teaching
style. She was a member of the nationally ranked University of South
Alabama Dance Team. Lacie has performed with the Birmingham Dance Theatre
and she holds top honors from prestigious dance conventions including
Tremaine, Co.Dance, West Coast Dance Explosion, and Dance Masters of
America, among others. She is also a volunteer for the Arthritis
Foundation. Lacie was accepted into a summer 2006 intensive workshop with
the Radio City Rockettes where she has been invited to perform at Radio
City Music Hall with the Rockettes. Her special touch with our
children makes us so fortunate to have Lacie as part of our dance family! |
Adrian Almanza
Mr. Adrian has spent the last ten years teaching and performing all over
the South. He does more than just dance. He feels the music and
translates it into a Hip-Hop dance style that is all his own. His style
ranges from East coast to West coast hip-hop including break dancing and
mainstream hip hop. He has choreographed for Six Flags Over Texas and
taught workshops at Dance Teachers United. Mr. Adrian's current goal is
to bring his style of hip-hop to his students in an entertaining and
enjoyable way. Broadway South is so fortunate to have Mr. Adrian! |
Jeanette Sims
Jeanette
Sims joins Broadway South with many years of experience on her roster.
Her love of dance started with instruction at the age of 4 and has
blossomed to 30 years of experience. Our well rounded teacher has
studied with dance greats Joe Tremaine, Marcea Lane and Barry Lather, to
name a few. Ms. Jeanette's wonderful way with our little dancers is a
treat! |
Amber Cook
Amber Cook started dancing at the age of three and her passion for dance has grown tremendously. She is a graduate of Baker High School and was a member of Baker's competitive dance team. Ms. Amber has had the honor of dancing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She has been involved in well known organizations including New York City Dance Alliance, West Coast Dance Explosion, Kids Artistic Revue. Amber attends the University of South Alabama and plans to earn a Business and Management degree. With her family and friends by her side and the help of God in her heart she will continue to grow more in dance and be successful in her goals of life. We are so fortunate to have Ms. Amber teaching and instilling good principles in our littlest of dancers!

Jayne Ledford
Ms. Jayne began her dance training at age 3 in Titusville, FL. There she became a company dancer with Edith Royal of the Royal School of Dance in Orlando, FL. While dancing in the Royal Company ,she performed with Denise Jackson & Greg Huffman of the Joffrey Ballet, Suzanne Farrell & Sean Lavery of the New York City Ballet as well as Russell Saltzback of the Joffrey Ballet. Ms. Jayne was also a dancer in the Easter Parade at Walt Disney World and was selected at age 9 to perform on the hit national television show "Bozo". She has also performed in Nutcracker, Hansel and Gretel, The Emperors Clothes and several Evening of Ballet performances. Ms.Jayne has also taken several master classes with Gus Giordano and Russell Saltzback of the Joffrey Ballet as well as additional classes in New York City and Paris, France. After moving to Mobile approx. 16 years ago, she became a Cheerleader Director for the Mobile Youth Football Conference as well as coaching several cheerleading teams where she helped earn several cheerleading competition wins. We are so happy to have Ms. Jayne as a member of our faculty! |
Danelle McNew
Danelle
has been dancing for over 15 years. Her training began with Kids Dance
Co. at age six. She was a member of the highly competitive Eagle-ettes
and Co. during her high school years. With the Eagle-ettes she danced in
Miami Dolphin Football halftimes and placed nationally at the Wide World
of Sports Dance competition in Orlando, FL. After high school, she was a
member of X-10 danceteam in her community. She trained at Southern Dance
theatre and Klein Dance Co. in Boynton Beach, FL. She was the captain of
the Samford University Dance Ensemble her senior year and choreographed
many pieces. Her love for dance is evident in her teaching and her
smile. She thanks her heavenly Father for the gift of dance and her
family for always being supportive. Broadway South welcomes Danelle to
our talented staff! |
