Broadway South Dance Studio provides a convenient location in West Mobile and The Shoppes at Springdale. West Mobile Broadway South is located in Veteran's Memorial Parkway Center off Schillinger Road, 1 mile south of Cottage Hill Road. Our building is approximately 6,000 square feet and includes three spacious dance studios allowing dancers plenty of space to dance. Our Shoppes at Springdale (Next to Belk) Studio services Springhill and Midtown, Saraland, and Chickasaw and is approximately 3,000 square feet. We feature sprung dance floors that reduce stress on the body ensuring healthy dancers. Each studio is equipped with one way windows allowing parents to view classes at all times. Broadway South Dance is proud to have a family oriented facility featuring a family friendly schedule. Our studio has 2 comfortable lounge areas with Wi-Fi as well as a covered drop off access in West Mobile. For your added convenience we have dressing rooms and dancewear supplies available. Our state of the art studios are known across the country. Our studios have hosted filmings for TLC and The Style Network along with hosting R&B singer Monica and Riverdance for concert rehearsals. Broadway South Dance Studio offers children through adults quality dance education in numerous areas of dance. Bringing a New York flavor to the Gulf Coast has long been a dream of studio owner/director and faculty member Michelle Adams-Meeker. Our studio provides a solid foundation for the student who wants to pursue a career as a dance professional as well as those who dance for the love of the art. Our focus is to ensure a place to nurture the growth of all types of dancers at all ages. We are rapidly being known as the studio in Mobile to give individualized attention to our students, allowing the necessary and proper dance technique to be taught to all ages of dancers. This allows each one of them to blossom to their fullest potential. Some of Broadway South's students have gone on to become Dixie Darlings at Southern Miss and have become dancers at Alvin Ailey and with Broadway's George Faison, just to name a few. What is a Sprung Dance Floor? If you want to know, if your studio has sprung floors: Sprung floors will generally be above the normal floor level - You should have to step-up into the studio. Also, you will be able to step on the floor and feel the flexibility. The surface on which the dancer dances is also important. Our floors are vinyl “Marley” floors that are well known in the dance world as being THE best surface on which to dance. Professional companies around the world including Alvin Ailey and New York City Ballet all use these types of flooring in their home studios as well as on the road in touring cities. This floor allows the perfect leverage for the dancer- it is neither too sticky or too slippery. Very few studios choose to install the "Marley" surface and sprung flooring because of the great expense and usually opt for a cheaper alternative such as wood or linoleum over cement. "Marley" flooring is becoming increasingly popular with local studios, but be sure to ask what lies underneath. Our top of the line flooring will reduce injuries and give the students the optimal surface on which to dance. Our sprung floating floor is under our “Marley” surface. What type of floors have you been dancing on in the past? All our studios feature large viewing windows. While other studios claim to have viewing windows, our studios offer year round viewing, not once a month viewing like other studios in town. We are happy for parents to be able to watch their children’s progress and share the child’s enjoyment of the class.
