Broadway South Dance

Reviews

"Like many girls, I grew up dancing. Whether it was jazz, tap, ballet or modern, I loved it all. Unfortunately, after college I never thought I would have the opportunity to take dance again. Once school ended, Mobile became my new home. I heard about Broadway South Dance from a friend who was currently enrolled in the adult jazz class. I immediately jumped on the opportunity and I am so thankful I did! It has become a highlight of my week and I always look forward to Michelle’s jazz and tap classes. The combination of her talent and organization makes for a high energy, enjoyable and efficient class. I would recommend it to adults of any age. The best part…you get a work out without even knowing it! "

"My daughter and I love dance this year! She has danced since age 3 and at the same studio up until this year, when we chose "Broadway South" . As a parent I've found all the recitals get very hectic and can turn into more than having fun! We had so much stress at the other place. This year has been stress free for me and my daughter has truly enjoyed dancing. Actually, she said " mom it's so much easier and more fun this year ". ....Ordering of costumes at appropriate times and getting pictures at the studio make it so much better. Making payments are simple too. All information is ready at any given time. Very nice office and staff. The one way glass is great. At any given time you can watch your child in class. Dress code and music is very age appropriate. We will be back for another year! ...."

"....Our first year of Company has been a joyous experience. The excitement and anticipation of competition are great fun. But, above all that, Michelle has assembled a 1st class staff that are professional, energetic and knowledgeable of dance and performance, with a genuine passion of teaching. She is so organized with e-mails for schedules, line-ups, and just words of encouragement. She even keeps grandmothers in the loop! We've all become one large family, cheering, and encouraging each others children at their performances. Hayley is already looking forward to next year and so am I. Can't wait for ....New York....!!!...."

"A dancer's progress is imminent at Broadway South!! It is amazing to see just how quickly my two dancers have grown. The faculty is well rounded and experienced. The studio has a full time office manager who is always pleasant and available for assistance. The classrooms are spacious and offer one way viewing windows which allow parents to see what their children are learning. My husband and I are both in the field of physical therapy and appreciate the Marley flooring as it reduces the stress on their joints. Our girls no longer complain of joint pain in their feet, ankles and knees. It is also great to have been a part of the Company Dance Family going into our third year. Competitions run smoothly thanks to Michelle, our studio director and her assistant Jayne Ledford who keeps things streamlined backstage. We are pleased that we made the switch to Broadway South."

"Michelle's style of dance is unique to anything I have seen in Mobile. She has amazing energy and a genuine love for what she does, and it shows. The staff that she has put together for her studio is equally talented and energetic. We could not be happier with our choice to join Michelle in her first year. The only regret we have is that it my daughter's senior year before she leaves for college and we wish Michelle would have done this sooner!"

"My little girl is Lindsey Grace Autio, age 3, and she is enrolled in the Tuesday Fairytale Ballet class in which Michelle is the teacher.
I am very impressed with the building, the facilities and faculty. Our class started out with Lacy who was wonderful and now was replaced with Michelle who has exceeded my expectations!!! Lindsey loves the class and especially her teacher which is very important at this age. It is so refreshing to have a dance studio where they aren't so caught up in the financial aspect to where they lose sight of what is important... the children!!! Thank you Michelle!!!"

Michelle Autio, parent of student

"Having worked with Michelle on the musical stage I can see why she is such an effective instructor and coach in the studio. With the dancers her work was professional, crisp and innovative. With the singers and actors who have no dance background (that's me) she was patient, encouraging and altogether delightful. What she put together was clever, accessible and fun to do. Michelle has the ability to draw the best out of each person's available talent and that is the hallmark of excellent teaching."

Scott Wright, One of Mobile's top theatre performers

"I feel Michelle's extensive professional background and life experience will be an invaluable asset to any performance program. Not only does she possess a wealth of knowledge, I believe she has many other necessary qualities that will make her a successful teacher-compassion, fairness, and a true love of the subject matter-dance! I believe any studio full of dancers will enjoy and benefit from their experience with Michelle."

"We have absolutely loved our first year at Broadway South. Sometimes leaving one studio for another can be extremely stressful. However, our transition was wonderful. Everyone is so friendly and inviting. The teachers are such professionals. They instill such love and passion for dance. Our daughter's technique and skill have grown incredibly. She dances with much more grace and confidence. We are thrilled with Broadway South and look forward to many more years....."

"My daughter loves to dance and perform, and Broadway South Dance Company has fulfilled her passion for both. Her company experience has improved her dancing, and has afforded her opportunities to teach dancing as well. I now see a poised, graceful, strong, self-assured young lady. She plans to continue dancing in college next year, as a result of the fine instruction at the studio. Kudos to Michelle! "

".. ..Broadway South Dance is an amazing dance studio! This is my girls 2nd. year there and they both have learned more there than they every did at their other studio. I see the joy in their faces as they dance here! Bravo Broadway! You Rock! ...."

"I am so thankful for Broadway South. Karson has come so far this year. I believe that she has learned more here in one year than she has learned in the last three. She looks forward to coming to class and she likes her teachers. She enjoys company so much, she can't wait to get on stage and do her thing!!...."

"My daughter is in Pre-school Fairytale Ballet and she loves it! One of my favorite assets of Broadway South is that parents can observe the class through the 2 way mirrors. It has been amazing to watch my child grow in her knowledge of dance even at the age of 3! Amber does a fabulous job teaching our little ballerinas, too! ....Thanks Broadway South for such an awesome experience with our first year of dance!"

"Michelle Meeker has assisted me with my classes at the Broadway Dance Center in NYC and with many master classes for many years. She has great knowledge of technique and different styles of dance, added to that is her experience as a student and performer which gives her a special understanding of dancers needs. Michelle holds the perfect balance of what a teacher needs to be in the classroom for the students to grow technically and artistically. I highly recommend her to you."

"Broadway South is Fabulous.

The studio is beautiful and has wonderful sprung dance floors.

My daughter Rosemary takes Fairytale Ballet with Michelle and Tap/Ballet with Lacie. Rosemary has wanted to be a dancer since she could walk. She loves learning to be a ballerina. Michelle and Lacie are both wonderful instructors and really know how to nurture and naturally bring out what the children love to do. They make formal training fun and exciting.

We are very proud to be part of the Broadway South family.

Thank-you Michelle!"

"Broadway South is Fabulous.

Mattea is definitely having a great time at Broadway South!

I am very, very pleased with our experience there.  I feel like she has learned more in the two months she’s been there than in the entire year she spent at another longtime Mobile studio (name removed). I really appreciate the way that Christal makes them redo the steps to help them get them -That’s what teaching should be. Mattea’s teacher last year was really sweet, but at the recital we noticed that only one or two kids in every one of her classes’ numbers would know the routine. I couldn’t tell that Mattea learned anything. She struggled through the entire recital, having to turn her head the entire time to watch the one girl who knew the routine well. Of course, that was the only chance all year we got to see what she was doing. She had fun in class, but I don’t think she learned much.

Again, thanks! You have a great studio – I tell people that a lot!

Melinda Pierce,
Mom of Mattea
